「I feel like I'm walking along the shore with someone dear to me, but when I looked back, I saw nothing but those blurry traces in the sand.」

History

「Elia the Sun
As radiant as a golden crown of thousands jewels
Nuit the Moon
As gentle as a black veil decorated with a sea of stars. 」
For eons, the two goddesses has always been in love with each other. And the realm was born with the blessings from their love.
Elia gave her blessings to the people, so they can thrive on the rich soil she gave warmth to, feast on the fruits she sprouted, and marvel the seasons she painted. For her children to live freely, such was her passion.
Nuit gave her blessings to the fairies, to carry knowledge throughout the realm like flows of water, to pass on wisdom from generations to generations, to give life a meaning. For her children to truly live, such was her mission.
「Nox the Night
He who became the night itseft
And Alros the Flow
Who would soon follow his brother's fate. 」
Along with the two Goddesses were Nox - God of the Truth and Alros - God of Ideals. Nox weaved the night sky with Alros's unending threads of flows, creating time and fate for every beings.
Nox fell deeply in love with a mortal, knowing that time and fate will soon separates them. He then reached out to Alros and plead for him to extend the mortal's life in exchange for his immortality. And by doing so, Nox became one with the night, forever embracing his loved one in the endless darkness.
Without anyone left to weave the threads, Alros's flow started to become unstable. The realm's magic was disturbed, monsters were swarming and day and night, seasons and weathers, the time itself were all tangled up. Alros too disappeared into the chaotic flow.
Then, Hylous appeared from the depths of the abyss with its hordes after hordes of deep sea monsters. Every place it go, the flow would be deeply disturbed, everything it touches become frenzied. The land bled and wept for the lives that was lost. This catastrophic event was later known as the Devouring. After what felt like an eternity of chaos, their cries were finally heard. The Goddesses exhausted the last fragment of their power to bestow their children the holy magic that can seal Hylous back to its own void, like a star fall, the magic purified all malice and flow disturbances in an enormous explosion of light. This is how the event of White Death and the continent of Rion got its name. The magic was powerful enough to stabilize the flow for more than 500 years. But without Nox and Alros, it will soon become unstable again, humanity has already foreseen that, so they started to look for a solution, may it be possible or not. That's when they found people who possess the similar magic. These individuals are known to appear every 100 years and are given the title High Priest with their sole duty is to protect the land from Hylous's influences. And the tradition continues on to the present days...

Civilization

Civilization§ Kingdoms and communities
There are six kingdoms in Rion. Mionia, Eulie, Azeth, Ymith, Daelia and Vrakos. There are also big cities with their own rules and goverment. With Hylous and its minions being the mutual threat at time, all the factions are at peace with each other. Even so, conflicts do happen from time to time, especially conflicts between the rich and the poor, nobles and commoners, the ones with magic and the ones without, clash of beliefs,.. Rion is not without her problems, but it does not stop the waves of people from coming to her seeking a change in their life.
§ Races and species and their community identities
- The Light Touched Ones
Ramm, Lang or Avia, Kit and Repti are the names given to each races by the Walkers as the beastmen themselves don't refer to each other using those names, instead they will mostly refer to the other races using their features, and this will differ depending on each communities. For example the Ramms might refers to the Avias as "skydivers", but the Langs will refer to them as "large arms". Different communities will have different names for the other races, but all of them do not refer to themselves by any names because their identity as a community change often either due to migration, departure or communities merge etc.
- The Walkers
The name Walkers is given to them by the beastmen based on the major way they travel the realm, but there are also some other names such as "the furless ones" or "flat footers". The Walkers however has a strong sense of identity, thus they often refer to themselves with the given name and to other races using the standard names.
- The Stars
The Stars is the name given to this race by the Walkers based on the Myth of Creation while the beastmen refer to them as "fast wings". The fairies themselves however lives completely separate from other races and do not have the name for any of them.
CURRENCY

The coin with the lowest value is called a Shiny, you can buy three loaves of bread with one Shiny, or a refreshing Sunglow Jelly drink with 2 Shinies. The slightly larger coin with the fairy carving is called Stardust, one Stardust is worth 10 Shinies and you can buy a full meal with one Stardust, or stay for one night at the inn with 3 Stardusts. The coin with the highest value is called a Star, one Star is worth 5 Stardust and you can buy a train ticket with it, or apply for a Moffi driver license with 8 Stars (Moffi not included)Though all these coins has different values, they're all made with bronze.

Geography

Seasons

There are two kinds of calendar, the Moon calendar used by the people who lives in the south and the Sun calendar used by people who live further in the north of the continent.
Both calendars have 13 moons in a year and each moon has 30 days for the Moon calendar or 30/31 days for the Sun calendar. The moons are Faeyu, Rammyu, Lunyu, Nuit, Retyu, Elia, Kiyu, Alros, Solyu, Avyu, Hylous, Lanyu and Nox.
There are 6 seasons in total.
The season of Frostfall occurs during Faeyu. This marks the beginning of a new year as the weather start to warm up the frost and cause a big flood that wash over the continent.
The season of Springdrop start from Rammyu to Nuit, the land is filled with life and flowers bloom in every nooks and crannies.
Then comes the season of Highsun that took place from Retyu to Kiyu, it is the hottest season in year and it's the perfect time to harvest fruits.
The season of Goldsun comes after that, in the moons of Alros and Solyu, the wind is picking up and leaves are turning red and yellow, this is also the season of harvest.
The season of Canopy is next up in the moon of Avyu, around this time, flocks of Avia can be seen on the sky migrating from the east to west, creating a canopy of feather in the sky.
The final season is Frostgale which starts from Hylous to Nox, the land is covered with a thick blanket of snow and many people take this time to cozy up and take a good rest after a long year has passed.

Magic System

「Ever since Elia, the Goddess of the Sun graced the land with her blessings, her blood and life flows within the world itself. Nuit, the Goddess of the Moon granted the world her soul and tears, so her children could learn and live. 」As the Myth of Creation cited, magic flows in every beings, in every person, every monster, flora and fauna, land and sky. Magic is the very same as their blood, their life forces and nature itself.TYPE OF MAGIC USERS
There are 2 types of magic users: Ones that hone and evoke magic from within themselves, and ones that study and borrow magic from nature.
The first type includes all beastmen races (except for the Langs). Magic users from this group can use and strengthen magic naturally as they grew up. Because they can only use the magic of their own flow, these magic users cannot control the flow from the nature and they all have magic types that are unique to their races or to themselves.
The second type includes all humanoid races and the Langs. This group of magic users need to learn the art of channeling magic from the nature in order to use it as their own through grimoires or mentors. It takes a lot more time and effort to master one's flow but the magic users of this group can use whatever magic the nature offers them, making them the Jack-of-all-trades.
Every races has different affinity for magic, with Fairies and Ramms at the highest place and Langs, who doesn't have any magic at all at the lowest. Magic affinity also vary from person to person and not everyone from the same race have the same affinity, the higher their affinity is the stronger their magic will be. Even though it's said that magic is directly link to a person's health it's actually more like a stamina thing. A weak person could still have strong magic but using it would be extremely dangerous for their wellbeing. Drawing too much magic from the land will also lead to unbalanced life flow which might attract more monsters to the area.LANTERNS
In the Langs's case, it's said that the reason for their nonexistent affinity with magic is due to the fact that they once angered the Goddesses and their magic was taken away as a punishment, but there are also some theories that say the Langs arrived last when the Goddesses was walking the world so they ended up missing out the Sun Goddess's blessings.
They later dealt with the no magic problem by using a gemstone nicknamed Lantern. Lantern is a rare gemstone that can absorb the magic from outside and let it flow into the bearer's body, allowing them to use magic stored in the gemstone. Lantern is a rare and expensive artifact so not everyone can afford having one, they're also easy to break and only some high quality gems can be recharged while most will break after one use. The amount of magic left in a gemstone can be determined by the brilliance of its color, the almost empty ones will have a dull white color. To charge a Lantern, the user must first add a drop of their life force, in other way, their blood, into the gem to act as a link, then they will need to have the gem touch the life force of the source of magic, like a burning coal, a breeze of new wind, or, a drop of blood from other magic users.

Rion is home to many many species and races. The ones considered sentient and conscious can be divided to 3 main groups. The Walkers, which refers to all humanoid races, The Light Touched Ones which refers to the beastmen and The Stars, which refers to the fairies.

HumanThe most populous race in the continent of Rion. They are incredibly adaptive and can be found thriving everywhere from the scorching dunes to the freezing snow. Humans have a 60 to 100 years lifespan and an average affinity for magic.Trivia:
- Humans were originally migrated to Rion from the further western continent shortly before the event of the Devouring and White Death.
- They were the first to introduce waterway transportation to Rion, many thought they were insane for that but soon accept it for the convenience of traveling.

ElfThey are a race with a declining population, most elves can be found living in the east woods or the colder regions. Elves loves researching, be it magic or science, history or art, religion or geography,..etc They just love gaining and sharing knowledge in general. Most elves can live up to at least 100 years old, and the oldest elf is recorded to be around 1050 years old. They also have an incredible affinity for magic which is helpful for their researches.Trivia:
- Almost 80% of the realm's grimoires is written by elves.
- The elves surprisingly get on really well with the dwarves, especially when it's about their shared hobbies of crafting and inventing new stuff.

DwarfDwarves is a race that lives in the mountainous region, most of them can be found in Ocren. Dwarves are amazingly good with their work and they're the most skilled craftsmen of the realm. They're also known for either being very friendly or very grumpy and they have a great sense of community. Dwarves's lifespan is about 100 to 320 years and they have a low affinity for magic.Trivia:
- Dwarves are the race which discovered and created the Lantern along with the elves.
- Same with humans, the dwarves originally migrated to Rion about 800 years ago when the land was recovering for the Devouring.

OrcOrcs is the largest out of all races. Orcs usually gather at spacious regions like the northern plains or the southern grasslands. They're known for their amazing physical power and their unique cuisine. The average lifespan of an orc is about 40 to 70 years and they too have a decent affinity for magic which they often use for combat.Trivia:
- Most of the orcs are adventurers or mercenaries or an amazing cook.
- Orcs are very family-oriented and many of them grew up in a big family.

RammRamm is the race that has the lowest population. They also tend to travel across the realm so it's hard to pinpoint where the most of them live. They are a rather religious race and is one of a few race that has healing magic. The Ramms has a lifespan of 35 to 180 years with an unusually high affinity for magic.Trivia:
- Ramm is the first beastman race to receive the Goddesses's blessings according to the Myth of Creation.
- They're also the only race that has the highest number of high priests ever, aligning with their incredibly high affinity for magic.
- Ramms is terrible with cold weather, but they're willing to travel for their pilgrimages.

LangThe only race without magic and this put the Langs in lots of disadvantages. They're also very prideful and competitive so Lang might not be the most sociable race in Rion, but once you won their trust they are the most warm and wholesome friend you can get. Langs also have a long lifespan and can live at least 80 years, somes even up to 200 years.Trivia:
- Some of the Langs do not get on well with other races, especially with Ramms because of their magic differences.
- Most Langs might not possess a Lantern to transform to a humanoid form so with their thick coat of fur, the Langs will only live in the Northern tundra region.
- The lack of magic makes them the amazing hunters and survivalist in both forms.

AviaAvia is a social race and they get on well with almost everyone, they're also super chatty and love to travel. A healthy Avia can live up to about 50 to 80 years old and they have a decent affinity for magic.Trivia:
- They like to decorate themselves with colorful rocks and watch the reflected lights dancing on their feathers.
- Avia has androgynous features, except that the male ones are usually more colorful and smaller in size. They're also one of the largest beastmen races along side with the Reptis.
- It's said that Avia and Repti are both descendants of the ancient dragons so the two races share many similarities. One of them being their names patterns, both does not contain any sounds produced by touching both lips like v, p, b or m. Avia's names have lots of a and e sound (Taaca/Rie/Kakii/... ) while Repti's are mainly s, z and sh sound (Kasoo/Zie/Asosh/...)

KitThis feline like race is one with a growing population. They can be found throughout the realm doing various things just like humans, but their specialty which they have the most pride in is their night vision and their perfect sense of balance. They're also incredibly curious so even with an 80 to 160 years lifespan, it's a miracle when they actually lived that long and not get themselves in any troubles, oh and they can be very good at magic too.Trivia:
- Kits are so tiny they can often be seen hitchhiking on other larger races or just simply sneak into their satchel and become one with the luggage.
- The Kits likes to copy from the Walkers so they often have the same culture as them, they also call themselves Kit unlike other beastmen races.

ReptiRepti is a race that mainly lives in the desert region. They're known for their armor like skins and colorful culture. A Repti has a lifespan of 70 to 80 years and low affinity for magic.Trivia:
- Repti is the only race that can't be found in the Azeth region as they despite the cold. They also enjoy staying in their primal form more and will only transform if needed too.
- Both Repti and Avia are from the same ancestors, one evolved to adapt to the scorching sands at the end of the land and one evolved to roar the piercing mountains at the top of the sky.

FairiesAlong with humans, fairy is actually the most populous race, except for they often hide themselves and not many people has seen them before. Fairy is a semi-immortal race, which means they cannot die from aging. They're also incredibly tiny and only grow as big as cindershroom. Yet contrasting their small mass, the fairy have the best affinity for magic out of all races.Trivia:
- Fairies can tell a person apart by sensing their magic, so as a race with incredibly long lifespan, the fairies often have a hard time remembering other's names and physical features.
- Fairies are genderless beings.
- Fairies really like having long hair, they simply like to style and decorate their hair with many handmade accessories to show off to each other along side with their magnificent wings.
